The Karen Blixen Museum in Nairobi was set up in 1985 in M'Bogani House, the main building of Blixen's farm, at the foot of the Ngong Hills. The mahogany-paneled rooms remain as they were when she lived there, though most of her possessions now reside at the museum in Copenhagen.

Blixen’s coffee plantation never flourished because neither the soil nor the altitude were right for such a venture, and eventually she had to return to Denmark, her finances drained, but the building remains a fitting monument to one woman’s formidable talent and spirit.
